Majority of the gastrointestinal diseases are treated by medicines only. But a certain group of diseases of the gastrointestinal system like stone diseases, hernias, cancers require surgical treatment. The surgical treatment can be performed either by open surgery or Laparoscopic / Minimal invasive/ Key hole surgery, which is the latest development in the field of surgery. The surgeon performs surgery through small holes made in the abdomen instead of big cut. By this surgery, postoperative pain is less, hospital stay is less and complication rate is also less as less tissue damage is caused by this surgery.
